Anabelle returns home after two years of backpacking so that she can support her best friend Nicola in taking the next big step of life – getting married. But the moment she steps off the plane, she finds Nicky in tears and indulging in comfort food, and the groom in a compromising position with another woman.

Now Nicky has enrolled her accidental expertise in finding out cheating husbands/boyfriends. Soon Belle finds herself stalking the elusive workaholic bachelor Eddie Farrar and finds herself falling for him. Will he be a toad or the prince she was waiting for?

The plot was definitely interesting and the comic timings introduced in the narration definitely helped in making the book a lively success. However, it is really difficult to fall in love with the book or the characters mainly because of the haphazard way the book has been written. The comic, dramatic tone is fine but not when the whole book lacks the elegant flow of narration.

The character of Belle has this interesting mix of being annoying and funny and I am not sure how to react to the way she has been characterised and personalised. But ahe definitely helped in bringing a certain “it” factor to the book. The rest of the characters in my eyes were too insignificant to be mentioned.

I liked the lively title and cover image that not inly brightens the look and attracts attention, but also matches with the description that has been provided.

My opinion: Definitely an interesting book, but it requires lot of work in terms of the narrative style.

My rating: 2.5 out of 5
